Walking Old Havana Part 2

The liveliest street in Old Havana is probably Calle Obispo.  It is an east-west corridor cutting through the middle of the town.  It is a pedestrian only street.

Of course, tourists are all over this street...and so are the little souvenir shops and restaurants.

I love their use of colours!

These are bracelets, by the way...

Care for a snack? :-)

Many touristy (but fun) things happening too!  I was taking photos of these dancers on stilts when this little girl came up to me asking for a donation to support the show.  I dropped a few pesos wholeheartedly.  Great effort on their part!

This statue guy was funny too.  When my son dropped a coin in the chest, he started to move in slow motion and called my son back.  We ended up with some nice pics of him clowning around with the kids!  Good fun!

At the easternmost end of Obispo, you'll reach Plaza De Armas.  It is one of many town squares.  This one is called Plaza De Armas because the Spanish soldiers used to do their drills here.

Many used books vendors and "antique" dealers here...

The old governor-general's home faces the square.  It is easy to imagine the old grandeur of this place.

Closer to the waterfront is an old fort...probably the same idea as in most other colonized territories around the world.

(To be continued....)
