A trip to the beach was in order. Boracay, a tiny island north of Panay Island has the most beautiful beach in the world....at least for me.
We took this little plane to Caticlan, the port on the northern tip of Panay. It has to be a small plane because the Godofredo P. Ramos Airport has a very small airstrip. Flight time from Manila: 1 hour.
The airplane, by the way, is a Canadian-made one. The DHC-8-300 was originally made by de Havilland Canada...now manufactured by Bombardier Aerospace.
After a short boat ride from Caticlan, we arrived at Boracay!
The most beautiful beach in the world! :-)
The sand was like baby powder. You could walk on bare feet at high noon without your soles getting scalded.
Hang on to that hat!
I had actually been here about 25 years ago. The place had been more "bare bones"...simple huts, no air-conditioning, a few bamboo tables and chairs on the beach that had passed for a restaurant. This time around, more comfortable accommodations could be had.
I wasn't complaining. I liked the beach side bar. he! he!
25 years ago, nobody took selfies either. :-)
Lifeguard hut...er, tower.
This enterprising kid makes a bit on the side building sand sculptures. I happily gave him a tip for his efforts....and for letting us take a group photo with his masterpiece.
So is there anything else in Boracay apart from the beach? Watch out for Part 2!
